Fundraisers
"A Scout is Thrifty" is part of the Scout Law. Scouts learn to pay their own way and to be thrifty by participating in troop fundraisers. Scouting should never be a financial burden for families; there are ample opportunities for Scouts to fund every adventure they choose to go on.
Our Scout council participates in two major fundraisers each year:
The fall popcorn sale Scouts can sell via an order form or by setting up an individual online sales page. Scouting America has partnered with Pecatonica to provide a variety of products. Information on how to participate will be provided in the early fall.
The winter/spring adventure card sale This popular discount card offers one-time and year-long savings at local stores and restaurants. Typically, the cards sell for $10 each and Scouts get $2 credit per card to their Scouting accounts.
Funds raised through our annual council fundraisers support Scouting at the national and council level as well as our troop and individual Scouts. Our troop also organizes unit fundraisers, such as an annual Christmas tree pickup service.
Scouts may use the funds they accumulate in their individual accounts to pay for camping trips and other troop activities, or they may use the funds at the Scout store to purchase camping equipment, uniforms, and other Scouting-related items.
